Society: Work: Self-Employment

[ history ]

Description

Self-employment is where a worker owns and/or operates a business and undertakes paid employment for themselves.

Self-employed workers accounted for about 8 percent of the workforce in the United States as of 2002. However, they were concentrated in a small number of occupations, such as farmers and ranchers, childcare workers, lawyers, health practitioners, and the construction trades.
