Overview

Seniors are the older members of society, also known as the elderley, advanced adults, senior citizens or aged persons. The exact age group that seniors refers to remains unclear, with the lowest bracket being between 50 years of age and 75 years of age.

Currently, most developed countries consider someone to become part of the 'senior' age bracket between 60 and 65 years of age, or after they begin to receive a retirement pension. Previously this was much lower, but it has increased due to nutrition and medicine advancements, especially during the 20th century and 21st century.
