Overview

An issue is any topic of ongoing current public interest. Every issue is based around a strong controversy or something with strong social or political implications. Issues may be debated, discussed or receive significant media attention. In many cases, current events may raise issues or contribute to the importance of issues. Often issues continue over a long period of time in several different cultures, such as uncertainties between going to war or maintaining peace.

Often issues may result from varying points of view regarding a change or the need for a change. Religious and cultural differences and one´s situation influence how each person feels about certain changes. A person´s freedom to choose their point of view is considered a basic human right in most democratic countries and people may form organizations or undertake activism to make sure others understand how they feel.
