| Neurologic disorders affect the central and peripheral nervous systems. These may include the brain, the brainstem, the cerebellum, the spinal cord, or any nerves traveling through the body. Neurologic signs and symptoms can arise from developmental disorders, vascular lesions, tumors, or trauma. Some disorders in this broad category include muscular problems (myasthenia gravis, myotonia congenita), psychomotor disorders (Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease), sensory dysfunction (hemiplegia, anopsia), and mental aberrations (amnesia, schizophrenia). |
