General Information

Music is the artful arrangement of sounds across time. It is found in virtually every culture on Earth, but varies widely from one culture to another. Most musical experiences consist of producing or listening to physical characteristics such as pitch or timbre. The earliest forms of music are believed by some scholars to be embellishments of repetitive activities in everyday life, such as breathing or walking.

Listening to music for recreation is particularly popular. Recorded music can be distributed by radio or television broadcast or on a compact disc or cassette tape. Many electrical appliances are specifically intended for listening to recorded music and jukeboxes are a popular coin-operated machine.
